There are two controls
on the viewer that can improve the look of the plat/plan. The "Enhance" control, to the left,
is the most important of the two. Usually, enhancement level 1 gives good results, but
sometimes other levels look better.
The "Brightness" control, over to the right, is usually best set toward the middle of
its range, but, again, sometimes other levels look better. Be careful, though -- if
you set the brightness all the way light or dark it may look like the plat/plan has
nothing on it.
Finally, be ready to check these adjustments any time the plat/plan doesn't look
good. The viewer may still remember the settings from the last time you used it.
Since some of
these plats/plans are 24x36, they may just be too big (or too old, or too dim) to
show up well on a computer screen. In that case, you may want to download them and print them
full-size to get the best reproduction.
